Hi,
I have been testing/fixing the nautilus6 based DSMIP implementation while you have been working with PMIP case. I have focuses only to use case where native IP layer provides IPv4 only, and IPv6 get's tunneled over IPv4.
I must say there is no DSMIP specific 'device driver', implementation is done using source based routing and XFRM framework. The IPSEC utilizes also XFRM, there is no 'ipsec' device driver either. Applications are able to 'switch' interfaces on fly (applications are not aware of interface being switched over to another one). If this is possible with DSMIP, surely it will also work with PMIP too. One could say behavior is implementation dependant, but with 2.6 linux kernel it just works.
In order to continue the work I think a new meaningful target needs to be invented. It would need to include real signalling scenarios, as per 3GPP 24.302 (and 29.275) and especially related to ikev2/mobike extensions. The realistic case would assume S2b interface. From mobile point of view all should work according to 3GPP S2b, and network side ePDG/PDN-GW could be done with minimal effort just to make the UE side to work.
